First and foremost, I would like to give kudos and a big thank you to our project managers who work wonders for our clients every day. Thanks to their dedication, expertise and positive attitude, we complete almost all of our projects on time and within budget while providing expert localization of client materials. With that said, it is clear that project management plays a significant role in the localization process. Quite simply, when it comes to project management in localization, we know what we’re doing! Role of a Project Manager
The project manager is the main contact between the client and the vendor’s resources. They coordinate the projects and ensure a smooth translation process. They know the clients best and listen carefully to meet all of their demands and expectations. They are responsible for identifying and sourcing the translators and Subject Matter Experts (SME) needed to successfully complete the translation project.
Clients are often surprised that we ask so many questions at the beginning of a project. But, experience has shown us that every project is different and may require different handling than the one before. The better we know the client’s situation – the better we can serve them.
Because we are ISO-certified, at the end of each project the project managers ensure that Quality Assurance (QA) is included as specified in the Quality Manual and that all of the client’s requirements are fulfilled.
The project managers are very detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking with impeccable organizational and language skills and work independently in a growing, fast-paced, multicultural production team.
Profile of a Project Manager
All of our project managers are – at a minimum – bi-lingual and have either experience working in other countries or are natives of other countries. With this multi-cultural background, they understand foreign language because they live it every day.
. TrueLanguage participates in the SDL Language Partner Program so it very important to us that they are experts and know how to utilize SDL Trados most effectively. That is why we place a strong emphasis on our project managers to be or become Trados-certified.
Additionally, our project managers are familiar with desktop and web-publishing programs, are proficient in translation and terminology management tools, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
You are so right. Project managers work hard to make everyone else’s work easier.
